NYOHA opens new facility with OHCC and NORA
NYOHA is excited to announce that we’ve teamed up with Oil Heat Comfort Corp. and the National Oilheat Research Alliance to launch the NYOHA/OHCC Technical Training Institute and NORA Liquid Fuels Research and Development Laboratory. A grand opening ceremony has been scheduled for April 13th from 5 to 8 p.m. Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, visitors will be treated to an open house of the 3,500-square foot facility, which houses a classroom to accommodate up to 20 students, a working lab, three offices and a board room. Research will be under the capable direction of Dr. Thomas Butcher, formerly of Brookhaven National Laboratory, and will begin with the testing of nearly 250 oil tanks to learn more about and eliminate potential storage tank complications. Bioheat® fuel blends and heating fuel quality will also be tested.
The fruition of a powerhouse partnership between NYOHA, OHCC and NORA the facility will provide researchers with an in-house, autonomous space in which to investigate and discover new ways to improve home heating and reduce the environmental impact of Oilheat. The facility also offers exciting new education opportunities for entrants to the industry, who will have the unique advantage of training at a modern facility under a scientist as esteemed and accomplished as Dr. Butcher. A series of Bronze and Silver Certification programs, as well as a variety of other continuing education classes, are already in development and scheduled to be offered this spring and summer. Additionally, the partnered associations have been in touch with several major equipment manufacturers to hold further training programs at the center. The presence of a self-sufficient and fully equipped facility will increase the quality of such training programs, allowing students to have a more hands-on approach to their training. With the Research and Education Center, Oilheat research now has the freedom to move in directions qualified industry specialists see most fit, and to expand even further into the future.
The Research and Education Center is located on 131 East Ames Court, in Plainview. Wednesday, April 13th. Contact NYOHA today for more information about the facility and the open house.
