Help Keep the Heat On With Third-Party Notification
If you travel frequently or have health challenges or other issues that may affect heating fuel bill payment, consider the third-party notification service. In New York State, all heating oil customers have the option of designating an alternate contact in the event the energy company can’t reach them. In such cases, the third party would be notified before a service termination takes place. This service can also help avoid late payment charges. Third-party notification is especially valuable for older residents who might have trouble hearing the phone or remembering whether or not they paid their heating bill.
Designated third parties are not responsible for paying the bill, only to act as a contact to help resolve any payment issue that arises. Before registering, be sure to contact your designate to get their permission and let them know that you may need their help from time to time. This service is available to all residential customers, with the consent of both parties. With winter officially set to begin on December 21, please encourage all elderly tenants to enroll. To sign up for third-party notification, please contact your local Bioheat® fuel provider.
