Heating Assistance Program Available
Even with heating prices at their lowest point in five years, no one should have to choose between heat and food, or heat and rent. If you or someone you know may need help heating their home, protect yourself against a heating emergency with the federally-funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
LIHEAP is a federally funded program that helps eligible individuals keep their families safe and their homes warm throughout the winter. The program offers aid to low-income families who need their heating systems repaired or replaced, cannot pay for heating oil deliveries, or are experiencing a heat-related emergency. For more information about income limits, visit the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance website.
For more information about LIHEAP funding in New York State, visit the LIHEAP Website or contact LIHEAP at 800-342-3009. If you are unable to pay your bills, don’t forget to also contact your local heating distributor to see how they can help you.
